The part circled in yellow is how horribly I'd be doing beaded knitting if I hadn't found karen ramel's instructions.

test of email posting

This is a test of the Blogger posting through email program.

The photo is of some Cotton Ease yarn in violet that I bought. I plan to make some socks out of it.

I finished the lace edging on the rug...

Now I just need to make the tying strips for the bows, sew down the ends of the long ribbon that's woven through the lace part and sew the bows on.

I'm kind of concerned though, because the ribbon seems a little too long for the rug, but I don't want to have to block the rug to make sure it fits. I think I'll just wash it first, dry it, and then put the ribbon in.

To frog, and frog, and frog again

I had to remove the off white rounds...they were making my rug into a bowl shape, which is not good. Luckily, I have other blogs to go by, which said use a bigger needle. It worked!

In other news, since I had to frog the border, I have decided not to wait until the rug is totally finished to start a sock knitting project. I wnat to get on that as soon as I get home.

Some things I plan to make

After I'm done with the rug behemoth (I really love the back of it), I'm going to make another pair of socks for my mom, and I'm going to get some yarn and make myself a Juliet sweater.

Those ovals remind me of the braided rugs I used to see all the time. I guess they've gone out of fashion, but I love them. I once saw one with burgundy worked in, one of my favorite colors.

PROJECT CRUSH #1
The Juliet sweater from Interweave Knits Summer 2004. Here's a picture of it from Knitting Goddess #9 at http://www.stitch-witch.net.http://www.stitch-witch.net/archives/2006_02_01_archive.html

Here's another few pics of it from BogieBogie's Flickr site:
http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=juliet&w=67495955%40N00 and http://knitflix.blogspot.com/2007/08/night-at-exhibition.html.

The V-neck picture of the sweater without the sleeves is the one that gave me the Juliet Love. I ordered a copy of the pattern from Interweave Knits, and have to see if they have a suggestion for yarn substitution.

I haven't decided on bead color or yarn color yet, but fuschia, burgundy, marine blue, or navy blue would be nice, or maybe even black. I plan to pair it with pearl type beads or gold beads, whichever is available.

I haven't decided on a pattern for my mom's socks yet, but I have a few I'm considering. I already bought the yarn, Violet in Lion's Cotton Ease.

PROJECT CRUSH #2:
Baby Georgia Chick Dress from Straw Into Gold/Crystal Palace Yarns.
Problem 1: No one I know is having a baby.
Problem 2: If they were, it'd be just my luck that it would be a boy.

Maybe I can make it as a charity knit.

PROJECT CRUSHES #3 and #4
The Sueet Suede Bag on Knitty.com. I love this bag. I've been thinking about doing a knit purse as my next project before the sweater for several reasons. It uses less yarn, it will knit up faster and last but not least, I need a bigger purse. Maybe if I make it myself I won't spend as much. Liner instructions from The Garter Belt, just in case: http://www.thegarterbelt.com/tech.html.

The second possible bag choice is also from Knitty: Via Diagonale purse by Wendy Wonnacott. The way she did the blue and black purse, it all just pops. I love it, and I think it's probably easier than it looks.

And if I have to pay for another sweater pattern, I pick this one: http://www.thegarterbelt.com/wb_somethingred.html.

One of the prettiest shawls I've ever seen, and from the picture alone, it looks like it's too fine a work to have been handknitted. I'd be a gazillion years old before I'd finish that one. I don't see my Knitting Olympics inspiration lasting that long.

Taos Ripple Sweater from Straw Into Gold/Crystal Palace Yarns. I just saw this one today. Can you say love the colors? I probably would never make this sweater, but it reminds me of a blue mock turtleneck I like to wear.

Lace Rows are from Hell, the Weekend

Saturday...
You know those days when you congratulate yourself for finishing that previous row because you were bored stiff before you even got halfway? You do the crazy grin of joy and your heart leaps because that's one more row you no longer have to worry about, and that's one row closer to the end?

Pattern reads, "...single crochet in next two single crochets, chain 3, single crochet in next two..."

So I crocheted the row, did the crazy grin and the heart leaping, and then started the next row. "Chain 3, double crochet in next single crochet, chain 3, double crochet in next two single crochets...."
Me to the pattern: "What next two single crochets? There's no next two single crochets here. You're trippin'!"
The pattern to me (after a check of previous row, a double take, and a reread of the previous row): "Is it my fault you can't follow a written pattern? I think not." Then it turned its snubbed little nose up in the air and walked away.

Me to myself and screwed up rug: "Damn!"

I gave up and went to bed.

Rug: 1,005 plus a 5-year "Why didn't you finish me five years ago?" guilt trip.
Renee - 0.

If the set wasn't so pretty, it would have been thrown out with the baby's bathwater a LOOOONNNGGG time ago.

Sunday...
I tried again this morning, and read knitting blogs as I went to alleviate project boredom. This is what I got.

Me to myself and screwed up redo rug: AGAIN: "What the??? --- Damn!"

Woo Hoo!!!

Good day today! Happy to tell you I finally got done with the green center of the rug.

Now I just need to crochet the lace edge and the ribbon parts.

Also, I finally got my friend's computer going. It had slowed down to a crawl and couldn't connect to the Internet.

Here's a project that I have finished--a needlepoint picture. Now I just have to get a frame and an oval mat.
